How do I know which service to choose?

All assessments include a school visit, as observing a child within their everyday learning environment is essential to understanding participation and sensory processing.

Assessments:

Occupational Therapy assessments piece together information about the child's environment (places & people in the child's world), what the child is good at & what they're finding tricky and the skills/ activities that the child wants/ needs to be able to do.  Assessments provide a report with findings of the assessment and recommendations that may help the child.  I aim to send report out 2 weeks after the date of the assessment, however if you need a report more urgently please contact me & I can let you know availability.  The return of forms is required from home & school to be able to send the report out, therefore if there is a delay in sending forms back to me, I will aim to send the report out to you 2 weeks after the remaining forms are returned

Treatment:

Treatment sessions are focused around goals that the child wants/ needs to be able to do to be as independent as possible. Treatment sessions are adapted to the child's interests and needs, providing the opportunity to learn and practise the skills they need for everyday life.  To access treatment sessions, an assessment report with goals for treatment must have been obtained within the last 12 months (either from myself or another OT).

School support:

I offer support to schools through staff training and coaching in the following areas: sensory circuits/ sensory friendly environments/ sensory friendly timetable/ Zones of Regulation/ Alert Program/ Interoceptive curriculum/ handwriting support.  I also offer OT groups for small groups of children or classes in areas such as: sensory circuits, sensory exploring, Zones of Regulation, Alert Program,  Interoceptive curriculum, handwriting, using scissors and dressing skills.

Clinical supervision:

Clinical supervision is a process of professional support, learning and reflection; crucial for developing competence, ensuring client safety, and maintaining professional standards by linking theory to practice, discussing complex cases, and fostering growth for OT's at all career stages.  Clinical supervision helps OT's navigate ethical dilemmas, enhance skills, prevent burnout, and align practice with core OT values and evidence-based methods, separate from administrative oversight.  I offer clinical supervision to newly qualified OT's, OT students who need Long Arm Supervision while on traditional/ role emerging placements and individuals completing module 2 or 3 of their Sensory Integration training through Sensory Integration Education.
